Summary
The Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) will provide comprehensive primary care to patients of all ages, including wellness assessments, acute and chronic condition management, and preventive care. The FNP will perform clinical evaluations, order and interpret diagnostic tests, prescribe medications, and coordinate referrals to specialty care.
The ideal candidate delivers high-quality, culturally sensitive care, demonstrating respect and understanding for the unique health needs and traditions of Native American and Alaska Native patients. This role requires collaboration with a multidisciplinary team to ensure continuity of care, patient education, and effective clinic operations.
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive primary care for patients of all ages, including wellness exams, acute and chronic condition management, and preventive care.
- Conduct medical histories, physical exams, and diagnostic tests (blood draws, cultures, skin tests, pap smears) in collaboration with RNs and Medical Assistants.
- Prescribe medications, manage refills, and coordinate referrals to specialty care.
- Deliver culturally sensitive patient education on health conditions, test results, preventive care, nutrition, growth and development, and lifestyle management.
- Respond to patient inquiries and follow up on lab results and treatment plans.
- Support staff education and training to maintain high-quality care.
- Manage clinic workflow, delegate tasks, and collaborate with other healthcare providers to ensure timely, coordinated care.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge on medical best practices and developments in Native American and Alaska Native health.
Qualifications:
- Colorado Registered Nursing License and Certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner.
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Health Care Provider Certification/CPR.
- Prescriptive Authority in CO and DEA required
Experience:
- 3 years working in an ambulatory or urgent care setting.
- Experience working with American Indians or a culturally diverse group.
- Prefer candidate to be experienced with eClinicalWorks.
- Must have EMR experience and a DEA license.
IMPORTANT: Pre-Employment Requirements
- Successful completion of background check and drug screening
- Proof of immunizations (first two COVID-19 doses, annual influenza vaccination, and other DIHFS-required immunizations)
- Current CPR/BLS certification
- Verification of required licenses/certifications
Working Conditions
Works in a normal office environment working with standard office equipment (such as phone, fax, and personal computer). Light physical activity required by handling objects up to twenty (20) pounds occasionally and/or up to ten (10) pounds frequently.
