Description: Constantine Public schools is seeking an energetic Groundskeeper to keep District grounds and athletic fields aesthetically sound. The Groundskeeper will maintain lawns, athletic fields, trees, shrubs, stair paths and sidewalks. This position requires the use of insecticides, chemical sprays and mulches. It is also a requirement to paint, line and prepare game and practice fields for District sports. This includes the use of power painters and hand sprayers. In winter months this position requires snow removal from parking lots, sidewalks and entrances and salting where needed. The Groundskeeper will keep trash, litter, debris and weeds cleared on school grounds. This candidate will also work closely with the maintenance department. A successful candidate must be trustworthy, dependable, meticulous, hardworking and work with minimal supervision.
Assignment/Responsibilities:
- Mowing
- Edging
- Trimming brush
- Weed eating/weed spraying
- Preparing, painting and lining athletic fields
- Picking up trash and dumping cans
- General upkeep of equipment
- Snow plowing sidewalks and parking lots and salting walkways
- Leaf pick up
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Capable of lifting 50 pounds
- Able to walk long distances while using various equipment
- Basic knowledge of operating tractors, mowers and power equipment
- Free from allergies that would interfere with Groundskeeper duties
- Able to use manual and power tools
- Ability to follow instructions
- Able to work overtime and nights if needed
- Pass background check
- Valid driver’s license
