Responsibilities
- Safely operate tractor-trailers, including refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, and tankers, across over-the-road (OTR) routes and local deliveries
- Load and unload freight efficiently, following proper manual handling procedures and logistics cargo handling protocols
- Navigate using GPS systems to ensure timely deliveries while optimizing routes for efficiency
- Comply with FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration), DOT (Department of Transportation), hazardous materials regulations, and other safety standards during all operations
- Transport hazardous materials (hazmat) and dangerous goods in accordance with hazardous materials regulations
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries, logs, inspection reports, and compliance documentation in line with FMCSA regulations
- Perform routine vehicle inspections, basic maintenance checks, and report any mechanical issues promptly to ensure vehicle safety
Requirements
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with endorsements for tractor-trailers, hazmat, or tanker preferred
- Proven experience in commercial truck driving, delivery driving, or freight transportation with a focus on route driving
- Familiarity with refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, and automobile transportation is highly desirable
- Knowledge of FMCSA regulations, DOT regulations, hazardous materials regulations, and safety protocols for truck loading/unloading and manual handling
- Ability to operate manual transmission trucks confidently and safely over long distances on OTR routes
- Strong understanding of logistics cargo handling procedures for freight security and safety compliance
- Excellent driving skills with a clean driving record; experience with truck loading/unloading is a plus
