Duties
- Prepare and cook menu items according to standardized recipes, ensuring consistency and quality in every dish
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, including ovens, grills, fryers, and food processors
- Maintain cleanliness of workstations, utensils, and kitchen tools in compliance with food safety standards
- Assist with meal plating and presentation to enhance visual appeal
- Follow proper food handling procedures to prevent contamination and ensure food safety management
- Collaborate with kitchen staff to coordinate meal preparation and timely service
- Support menu planning efforts by suggesting new ideas or modifications based on customer preferences and seasonal ingredients
Skills
- Proven experience in food preparation, cooking, or as a dietary aide within a restaurant or healthcare setting
- Strong knife skills with proficiency in slicing techniques and ingredient portioning
- Knowledge of dietary department requirements and dietary menu planning
- Ability to adhere strictly to recipes and food safety standards in production processes
- Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with kitchen team members
- Familiarity with operating various kitchen equipment safely and efficiently
- Experience in catering or serving environments is a plus but not required
- Demonstrated understanding of food industry best practices, including safety standards in production and food handling regulations
