About Us
Everyday Life Mentors provides one-on-one mentoring for individuals building communication, movement, and independence skills — including AAC support, adaptive fitness and swim, social skills training, and vocational/independent living coaching. We’re an enrolled SDP (Self-Determination Program) vendor working with families across LA and OC County.
We’re growing, and looking for a compassionate, reliable Direct Support Mentor to join our team and work directly with clients in community-based settings.
What You’ll Do
- Provide one-on-one and small-group support to clients working on communication, daily living, fitness, or vocational goals
- Support and model use of AAC (augmentative and alternative communication) devices where applicable
- Help clients build predictable routines and practice executive functioning skills (scheduling, task initiation, time management)
- Accompany clients into community settings (gyms, pools, job sites, stores) to practice real-world skills
- Communicate professionally with families and collaborate with the team on client goals and progress
- Maintain a calm, respectful, safety-first approach at all times
What We’re Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree required (psychology, special education, kinesiology, or a related field preferred)
- At least 3 years of experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, autism, or similar support needs
- Strong interpersonal skills — comfortable building trust and rapport with clients and families
- Patient, warm, and dependable — someone who shows up consistently and follows through
- Comfortable in community settings and flexible with scheduling
- Strong communication skills with clients, families, and team members
- CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) training a plus, or willingness to complete
- Reliable transportation
