Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Authorization Specialist to join our healthcare team. In this vital role, you will manage the authorization process for medical services, ensuring timely approval for patient services. Your expertise will help facilitate smooth communication between healthcare provider, insurance companies, and patients, ultimately supporting quality care and compliance with healthcare policies. The ideal candidate will possess strong knowledge of Authorization and insurance verification, along with a commitment to maintaining strict confidentiality and accuracy in all tasks.
Responsibilities
- Review and process authorization requests for members within insurance policies
- Verify patient insurance coverage, benefits, and eligibility using electronic health records (EHR) systems and other tools
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to obtain necessary documentation and ensure all required information is complete for authorization approval
- Maintain detailed records of authorization requests, approvals, denials, and follow-up actions in compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Communicate effectively with insurance companies to resolve authorization issues or discrepancies promptly
- Ensure adherence to clinical confidentiality policies while handling sensitive patient information
Requirements
- Proven experience in a medical office setting or healthcare environment, preferably as an Authorization Specialist or similar role
- Strong knowledge of HIPAA regulations and clinical confidentiality policies
- Experience with electronic health records (EHR) or electronic medical records (EMR) management systems
- Understanding of health insurance policies, managed care processes, and insurance verification procedures
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail to ensure accurate documentation and compliance
- Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with providers, insurers, and patients
