Overview
We are a cosmetic manufacturer in Van Nuys, CA with 40+ employees and growing. This is a part-time position, initially, but anticipated to eventually become a full-time role. Join our dynamic Human Resources team as a Human Resources Representative, where you will be the vital link between our organization and our valued employees. In this energetic role, you will champion human capital management initiatives, facilitate employee onboarding and development, and ensure compliance with employment and labor laws. Your proactive approach will help foster a positive workplace environment, support strategic planning efforts, and drive talent management initiatives that align with our company’s growth objectives. This position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact on our workforce while developing your HR expertise in a fast-paced setting.
Work Schedule is flexible, we estimate about 5-10 hours per week, depending on business need. Company works 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and the HR person is expected to be in office for special occasions - disciplinary meetings, new hire onboarding, etc.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement HR strategies and initiatives aligned with the overall business strategy.
- Manage the recruitment process including job postings, interviewing, and on-boarding of new employees.
- Oversee performance management processes to ensure employee development and engagement.
- Maintain HRIS systems for accurate employee data management and reporting.
- Ensure compliance with labor laws and regulations, including Cal/OSHA standards.
- Foster a positive workplace culture through employee engagement initiatives.
- Provide support to management on HR-related issues, offering guidance on policies and procedures.
- Lead training programs to enhance employee skills and knowledge in administrative functions.
- Collaborate with department heads to identify staffing needs and develop talent acquisition strategies.
- Follows safety rules and precautions.
- Drafting and posting job ads.
- Reviewing resumes and screening candidates.
- Scheduling interviews and skills tests by coordinating appointments.
- Conducting interviews with candidates either in person, over the phone.
- Administer Employee Benefits (Ease Platform).
- Provide guidance and feedback to managers on low-level employee relations matters.
- Conduct New Hire & Benefit Orientation for all new hires.
- Process unemployment claims and attend hearings as needed.
- Create reports as requested by senior management; prepare monthly and quarterly reports if required.
- Provide recruitment support, coordinate recruiting efforts for assigned requisitions.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent, Human Resources Certificate a plus, College Degree preferred.
- 3+ years’ experience in Human Resources
- California compliant pay practices.
- Ability to speak English and Spanish.
- HRIS development and working knowledge of Paychex Platform.
- Experience conducting new hire orientation.
- Outstanding communication and organization skills
- The ability to advise employees and managers on various HR-related issues relating, but not limited to on-boarding, training, benefits, workers compensation, performance management, recognition, and company policy.
- Reporting and recruiting experience a plus.
- Legal right to work in the United States.
