We're looking for an experienced robotics educator or professional who can run a UC-certified high school robotics course at one of our partner school campuses in Pico Rivera. If you have hands-on robotics expertise and can hold a room of high schoolers, we want to hear from you — even if your background is more engineering than education.
About CodeFu San Fernando Valley
CodeFu San Fernando Valley partners with private and charter schools across greater Los Angeles to deliver on-campus coding, robotics, and STEAM programs for K–12 students. Our high school robotics course is UC-certified — meaning it counts toward students' A-G requirements and is held to a higher academic standard than a typical enrichment elective. We have curriculum support on staff, and you'll be stepping into an established program at a school community that takes this course seriously.
What You'll Do
- Teach two 90-minute robotics class periods per week to a mixed group of high school students (grades 9–12)
- Deliver the UC-certified curriculum with confidence — adapting pacing and depth to your students while staying within the approved course structure
- Guide students through hands-on robotics projects: design, build, program, test, and iterate
- Maintain accurate records appropriate for a UC-certified course (attendance, grades, project documentation)
- Dedicate approximately 1–2 hours/week to prep, material organization, and communication with our team
- Represent CodeFu professionally within the school — high schoolers and their parents take a UC-certified course seriously, and so do we
What We're Looking For
- Demonstrated robotics expertise — you've built, programmed, and troubleshot robots, and you can teach the underlying concepts clearly to teenagers who range from curious beginners to experienced builders
- Experience with one or more competitive or educational robotics platforms: VEX, FIRST (FRC/FTC), LEGO Mindstorms, Arduino, or equivalent
- Comfort teaching or mentoring high school-age students — prior classroom experience is a genuine plus, but a strong coaching or mentoring background (competition robotics team, after-school club, STEM camp) is equally considered
- Ability to hold a mixed-level class: some students will be brand new, others will have prior experience — you can differentiate instruction without losing either group
- Organized and reliable — a UC-certified course has documentation and grading requirements; you need to stay on top of them
- Collaborative and communicative — you'll work within a school environment and with our team, not entirely on your own
What This Role Is NOT
This is not a fit for someone whose robotics experience is entirely self-taught or hobbyist-level with no experience passing that knowledge on to others. And it's not a role where you can wing the curriculum — this is a UC-certified course with real academic expectations. We need someone who takes both the robotics and the teaching seriously.
Schedule & Compensation
- 2 class periods per week, 90 minutes each — approximately 3–5 hours/week total including prep
- Fall semester + Winter/Spring semester (two sessions, school-year calendar)
- Schedule follows the school calendar — no summer commitment
- $50–$60/hour, depending on experience
- W2 employee position
