We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Project Manager (APM) to join our growing team. This position offers an excellent opportunity for an individual looking to advance their career in heavy civil construction while working alongside experienced project managers, superintendents, and field personnel.
Position Summary
The Assistant Project Manager supports the planning, coordination, and execution of construction projects from start-up through closeout. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills, excellent communication abilities, and a desire to grow within the heavy civil construction industry.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Assist Project Managers with daily project administration and coordination.
- Review plans, specifications, contracts, and project documents.
- Prepare and track submittals, RFIs, change orders, and material procurement.
- Coordinate with owners, engineers, subcontractors, suppliers, and field personnel.
- Monitor project schedules and assist with schedule updates.
- Support project budgeting, forecasting, and cost tracking.
- Review and process invoices, purchase orders, and subcontractor documentation.
- Attend project meetings and prepare meeting minutes.
- Assist with permitting, utility coordination, and agency compliance requirements.
- Maintain accurate project records and documentation.
- Support project closeout activities, including punch lists and final documentation.
- Work closely with field supervision to ensure project goals, safety standards, and production objectives are achieved.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field preferred.
- Minimum 2 years of construction experience preferred.
- Heavy civil, roadway, utility, site development, or infrastructure experience strongly preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications.
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience with Procore, HCSS, Spectrum, Bluebeam, or similar construction software is a plus.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
- Valid Florida Driver's License and reliable transportation.
