Creative Minds International Public Charter School (CMIPCS) is currently seeking a full time teacher for English Learners (ELs) who can provide a highly engaging, rigorous, international and inclusive education plan for students who are learning English as a second language.
Position Overview and Responsibilities
The EL teacher works to provide language instruction with appropriate curricula and the development of appropriate strategies to meet the unique needs of English Learners.
Position responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Provide standards-based language and literacy instruction for ELs in preschool through 8th grade.
- Assess students with WIDA screeners, WIDA ACCESS, K-WAPT and pre-IPT, including test session preparation on WIDA AMS. Assess students using WIDA online and paper materials as necessary based on IEP.
- Use assessment data to develop language acquisition support plans and work with classroom teachers to implement plans.
- Develop and maintain a consistent schedule that strategically addresses student needs and maximizes opportunities for classroom based support.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to plan and provide standards-based language and literacy instruction that supports the Fieldwork IEYC, IPC & IMYC units of study.
- Demonstrate understanding of best practices in EL planning instruction, including collaboration with classroom teachers to support success in all subject areas.
- Establish and maintain an effective, supportive classroom culture that both nurtures and challenges students.
- Work collaboratively with families and communicate regularly to ensure student success.
- Establish positive relationships with colleagues, students, families and the community.
- Coordinate and present professional development.
- Other related duties as requested.
Preferred Qualifications
- Training in and experience administering WIDA screeners, ACCESS, K-WAPT and Pre-IPT.
- Training in Google G-Suite for Education.
- Experience working with linguistically and ethnically diverse student populations and children with developmental differences.
- Possession of or eligibility for a valid District of Columbia Teaching Certificate or License (standard or provisional).
- Strong interpersonal skills and proven ability to work as a member of a team.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required (Master's Degree preferred)
Pay: $69,959.00 - $91,335.00 per year
