Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated Forklift Operator to join our dynamic warehouse team. In this role, you will be responsible for efficiently operating various types of heavy equipment, including forklifts, order pickers, and reach trucks, to facilitate the safe and accurate movement of materials within the warehouse. Your expertise will ensure smooth shipping and receiving operations, proper order picking, and effective materials handling. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical knowledge, warehouse experience, and a commitment to safety standards such as OSHA regulations. Responsibilities
- Operate forklifts, order pickers, and other heavy machinery to load, unload, and transport materials safely within the warehouse.
- Perform order picking using RF scanners and <PERSON> pick systems to fulfill customer orders accurately and efficiently.
- Load and unload shipments with precision, ensuring proper handling of heavy or fragile items.
- Assist with shipping and receiving activities by verifying incoming shipments against purchase orders and packing lists.
- Utilize warehouse management systems (WMS) to track inventory movements and update stock records.
- Conduct routine inspections of equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks to ensure operational safety and report maintenance needs promptly.
- Support warehouse supervision in maintaining a clean, organized workspace aligned with OSHA safety standards.
- Handle materials with care using appropriate techniques for heavy lifting and materials handling equipment.
- Collaborate with team members to optimize warehouse distribution workflows and improve overall efficiency.
- Operate specialized equipment like construction cranes or load & unload machinery as required for specific tasks.
Experience
- Proven experience operating forklifts, order pickers, and reach trucks.
- Familiarity with warehouse distribution processes including order picking, shipping & receiving, and inventory management.
- Knowledge of OSHA safety regulations related to heavy equipment operation and materials handling.
- Prior experience with warehouse management systems (WMS) and RF scanners is highly desirable.
- Mechanical aptitude with an understanding of heavy equipment maintenance is advantageous.
- Warehouse supervisor experience or familiarity with warehouse operations enhances candidacy.
- Strong physical ability for heavy lifting tasks combined with attention to safety protocols.
