About the Opportunity
A growing multidisciplinary consulting firm is seeking a licensed Structural Engineer (PE) to join its New York team. This role offers the opportunity to work on a diverse range of projects while developing expertise in structural design, assessment, rehabilitation, and investigation work.
The position is ideal for an engineer who enjoys a hands-on technical role but is also interested in progressing into project management, client interaction, and leadership responsibilities over time.
Key Responsibilities
Structural Engineering & Design

Perform structural analysis and design for a variety of building and support structure projects utilizing steel, concrete, masonry, timber, and other construction materials.

Develop engineering calculations, technical reports, and supporting design documentation.

Prepare construction drawings, details, specifications, and related deliverables.

Review shop drawings, respond to contractor inquiries, and support construction-phase services.

Conduct site visits to document existing conditions and observe construction progress.

Evaluate existing structures and develop repair, rehabilitation, strengthening, or retrofit solutions.

Participate in forensic investigations and structural assessments as required.

Conduct quality reviews and ensure compliance with applicable codes and engineering standards.

Coordinate with other design disciplines and project stakeholders throughout project development.
Project & Client Support

Assist with project planning, scheduling, budgeting, and resource coordination.

Participate in client meetings and provide technical guidance throughout project execution.

Support proposal preparation, technical narratives, and business development initiatives.

Mentor junior team members and contribute to a collaborative engineering environment.

Monitor project progress and identify potential risks or challenges.
Qualifications

Professional Engineer (PE) license in New York.

Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering (Master's degree preferred).

5+ years of structural engineering experience within a consulting or design environment.

Strong background in structural calculations, analysis, and construction documentation.

Experience using structural analysis and design software.

Familiarity with Revit or comparable BIM software is preferred.

Strong written communication skills with experience preparing technical reports and calculations.

Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and problem-solving abilities.

Ability to manage multiple assignments in a deadline-driven environment.

Willingness to perform occasional site visits and travel as required.
