Job Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Grinder Operator to join our manufacturing team. In this role, the Grinder Operator sets up and operates grinding machines to remove excess material, achieve precise dimensions, and produce high-quality finished parts. A Grinder Operator is responsible for operating grinding equipment to shape, smooth, and finish metal or other materials to precise specifications. This role requires attention to detail, adherence to safety procedures, and the ability to read blueprints and use precision measuring tools.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up and operate manual or CNC grinding machines.
- Grind, polish, and finish metal or other materials according to specifications.
- Read and interpret blueprints, work orders, and engineering drawings.
- Measure finished parts using calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other precision tools.
- Inspect products to ensure quality standards and dimensional accuracy.
- Perform routine machine maintenance and report equipment issues.
- Replace grinding wheels and adjust machine settings as needed.
- Maintain a clean and safe work area.
- Follow all company safety policies and OSHA guidelines.
- Document production and quality inspection results.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent (GED).
- Preferred previous manufacturing or grinding experience, otherwise, willing to train.
- Practices a strong work ethic.
- The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls.
- Possesses qualities such as productivity, dependability, resourcefulness, efficiency, and professionalism.
- Ability to read and interpret workorders and measurement tools (tape measures, calipers, micrometers).
- Familiarity with operating and troubleshooting cutting machinery and related equipment.
- Strong understanding of workplace safety standards and PPE requirements.
- Physical stamina and the ability to work in a hot, noisy, and fast-paced environment.
- A commitment to precision, quality, and teamwork.
- Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
- Ability to bend, stoop, reach, and perform repetitive motions.
Work Environment:
- Manufacturing or industrial facility.
- Exposure to grinding dust, machine noise, and moving equipment.
- PPE such as safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, and steel-toe boots required.
- Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment with noise, dust, and machinery.
- Physical stamina and the ability to work in a hot, noisy, and fast-paced environment.
- Full time (40 hours)
