We are seeking a Medical Physics Assistant to support diagnostic x‑ray imaging quality control (QC) programs across our client hospitals and outpatient offices in NJ and NY, working under the supervision of a Qualified Medical Physicist. The role focuses on routine QC testing and documentation for radiographic and fluoroscopic equipment to meet state regulatory and accreditation requirements.
Responsibilities
- Perform delegated QC tests on diagnostic x‑ray systems (radiography and fluoroscopy) using established protocols and checklists.
- Conduct routine measurements (reproducibility, kVp accuracy, exposure linearity, timer accuracy, beam alignment, light‑field/x‑ray‑field congruence, basic fluoroscopy performance tests).
- Collect and enter QC data into spreadsheets or QC software; prepare clear reports for review and sign‑off by the supervising medical physicist.
- Maintain organized QC documentation to support state regulatory compliance and accreditation (e.g., ACR, Joint Commission).
Minimum qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Physics, Engineering, Radiation Sciences, Medical Imaging, or a related field; OR appropriate technologist license/certification with documented QC experience.
- Training and hands‑on experience performing QC tests on diagnostic x‑ray equipment in a clinical or medical physics setting.
- Proficiency with spreadsheet‑based data entry and analysis (Microsoft Excel or similar).
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow written procedures consistently.
- Effective communication skills and ability to work with physicists, technologists, and administrative staff.
Preferred qualifications
- Experience with a variety of diagnostic x‑ray systems (fixed rooms, portables, C‑arms, R/F rooms).
- Familiarity with NJ and NY state x‑ray regulations and basic accreditation expectations.
- Experience supporting multi‑site QC programs (scheduling, documentation standardization, report preparation).
- Eligibility for, or current, New Jersey Medical Physicist Assistant certification in radiography and/or fluoroscopy (or willingness to obtain).
Schedule and travel
- Primarily weekday daytime hours, with occasional off‑hours testing to access rooms without disrupting patient care.
- Regional travel between NJ and NY hospitals and offices; No overnight travel is required.
Pay: $90,000.00 - $125,000.00 per year
