About Us
Colorado Bagel Company has been a Steamboat Springs staple for over 33 years. We run two locations: our original Mountainside Sandwich Shop, a fast-paced grab-and-go spot near the ski resort, and our newer Market & Deli on the west side of town, a full-service market with seating, a larger menu, and a wine and beer license. We bake fresh every day and take real pride in our product.
The Role
We're hiring a full-time Baker to handle two kinds of production across both locations but mention if one is only an option:
- Bagel baking (3 days/week): Early-morning shifts starting at 3:00 AM at our Mountainside Sandwich Shop. You'll mix, shape, boil, and bake our bagels so they're fresh and ready when doors open.
- Pastry baking (2 days/week): Daytime shifts during regular business hours at our Market & Deli. You'll prepare and bake our pastry lineup for the case and the café.
This is a hands-on production role for someone who's reliable, enjoys early starts, and cares about consistent, high-quality baked goods.
What You'll Do
- Mix, shape, boil, and bake bagels following our recipes and standards
- Prepare, proof, and bake pastries for daily service
- Keep accurate batch counts and follow production schedules so product is ready on time
- Maintain a clean, organized, food-safe workstation and follow all sanitation guidelines
- Monitor ingredient levels and flag low stock
- Work independently during early shifts and as part of the team during daytime shifts
What We're Looking For
- Dependable and punctual — early-morning shifts (3:00 AM) are a core part of this job
- Previous baking, kitchen, or food-production experience preferred (bagel or bread experience required)
- Comfortable working on your feet, lifting up to 50 lbs, and handling hot ovens and equipment
- Able to follow recipes and production schedules precisely
- Strong work ethic and attention to detail
- Reliable transportation to both Steamboat Springs locations
- Food Handler certification a plus (or willingness to obtain)
Schedule
- Full-time, 5 days/week
- 3 early-morning bagel shifts (starting 3:00 AM) at Mountainside Sandwich Shop
- 2 daytime pastry shifts (business hours) at Market & Deli
- Specific days set with the operations manager
