American Traveler is hiring an ICU RN for a night shift assignment requiring 1 year of critical care experience and a GA or compact RN license.

Surgical Intensive Care Unit within a hospital setting
-
12-bed split ICU across two floors, with higher acuity patients on the 2nd floor and lower acuity patients on the 1st floor
-
Patient ratios of 1:2 on the higher acuity floor (3 RNs) and 1:3 on the lower acuity floor (2 RNs plus 1 PCT)
-
Cares for critically ill medical/surgical patients including sepsis, cardiac arrest, cardiovascular disease, respiratory failure, substance overdose/withdrawal, post-op surgical care, GI bleeding, end-of-life/comfort care, and COVID-19 complications

Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00 to 07:00

Every other weekend required

No on-call requirements

Floating required within the facility and scope of practice as needed

Epic charting system used
-
Active RN license (GA or Compact) required
-
Minimum 1 year of ICU experience required
-
Experience with 1:2-3 patient ratios required
-
Required certifications: ACLS, BLS
-
Preferred certifications: CCRN, NIHSS
-
Epic charting experience required
-
Previous charge nurse experience preferred
-
Teaching hospital, community hospital, and Trauma Level I/II experience preferred
-
Skills required include IV therapy, central line care/management, PICC line management, starting and maintaining IVs, BiPAP/CPAP management, care of ventilated patients, high flow nasal cannula, ABG interpretation, ETT/NT suctioning, ventilator management, emergency medication administration, infection prevention, isolation precautions/PPE, cardiac monitoring, and dysrhythmia interpretation/management

Preferred skills include arterial line management, chest tube insertion/removal assistance, and GI surgery care experience

Experience managing multisystem organ dysfunction/failure patients required

Provide critical care nursing to a high-acuity ICU patient population
-
Manage patients with complex medical and surgical conditions requiring advanced monitoring and intervention
-
First-time travelers are welcome to apply

Maximum of 7 days RTO per contract, which must be finalized at time of submission
-
No RTO requests permitted during orientation week or after offer/onsite
-
Holiday coverage required based on number of major holidays falling within the assignment period (Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, and New Year's Eve/Day)

If one or two major holidays fall during the assignment, no holiday RTO may be requested
-
If three major holidays fall during the assignment, one holiday RTO request may be considered
-
Local candidates accepted at the same rate

Shift and schedule as posted are firm with no alternate shift or schedule requests permitted
-
Previous Piedmont employees (perm, per diem, or FCSS) must be away from all Piedmont facilities for one full year before applying as a traveler

Travelers previously cancelled or not-returned by the facility must complete one successful assignment outside of Piedmont before reapplying
