Job Description:
Position Summary
The End Dump Driver is responsible for safely and efficiently transporting aggregates (sand, gravel, rock, and related materials) from aggregate plants to company concrete yards that supply our volumetric concrete trucks. This role is critical to keeping our concrete operations running smoothly by ensuring consistent, on-time delivery of quality materials while maintaining the highest standards of safety, equipment care, and professionalism.
Key Responsibilities
Material Transport
- Haul aggregates such as sand, gravel, and stone from aggregate plants to company concrete yards supporting volumetric concrete operation.
- Ensure timely, accurate deliveries to maintain uninterrupted concrete production.
Vehicle Operation
- Safely operate end dump tractor-trailer combinations in plants, yards, and on public roadways.
- Maneuver in tight, high-traffic, or uneven areas
Safety & Compliance
- Perform thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections in accordance with DOT and company policies.
- Follow all DOT, OSHA/MSHA (as applicable), and company safety procedures.
- Ensure loads are properly distributed and secured, including tarping when required.
- Operate the hydraulic dump system safely at designated unloading locations.
Loading & Unloading
- Monitor loading to prevent overloading or improper weight distribution.
- Safely dump materials at company yards and designated stockpile locations.
Communication
- Communicate delays, equipment issues, or material concerns supervisors promptly.
Equipment Care & Basic Maintenance
- Keep truck and trailer clean and in good working condition.
- Perform minor checks and report mechanical issues or safety concerns immediately.
Qualifications
License & Certifications
- Valid Class A
- Ability to maintain DOT medical certification and company MVR standards.
Experience
- Previous experience operating dump trucks, end dump trailers, or similar heavy equipment in construction, aggregate, or trucking environments preferred.
- Experience in aggregate hauling or concrete-related operations is a plus.
Skills & Abilities
- Strong commitment to safety and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and follow supervisor instructions.
- Basic mechanical awareness and willingness to report issues promptly.
Physical & Environmental Requirements
- Ability to climb in and out of the truck cab and trailer multiple times per day.
- Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 50+ lbs as needed (e.g., tarps, equipment checks).
- Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Ability to sit for extended periods while driving and remain alert for long shifts (often 10–12 hours, depending on workload).
