Location: Whittier, CA
Duration: 3 months with the possibility to be extended
Schedule: 1st shift (5:00 AM – 1:30 PM) with overtime and weekend hours as needed
Salary range: $20/hr. - $21/hr. (depending on experience)
Summary
This role is responsible for assembling, welding, testing, troubleshooting, and repairing precision mechanical, fluid, and electrical measurement equipment. The ideal candidate will have experience working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and possess strong technical, mechanical, and problem-solving skills.
Job Description
- Assemble components and subassemblies for multiple product lines using approved procedures and engineering documentation.
- Set up new production work areas, including layouts, tooling, fixtures, and equipment.
- Assist with new product introductions and transition from development into production, including first article builds.
- Perform precision seam welding for extended periods while maintaining quality and production standards.
- Manufacture, assemble, and test mechanical, fluid, and electrical measurement equipment according to engineering drawings, specifications, and work instructions.
- Test assembled products and troubleshoot mechanical or electrical issues to ensure proper functionality.
- Diagnose, repair, modify, and rework assemblies as needed while performing root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions.
- Set up and operate precision calibrated equipment including weld controllers, gauges, fixtures, and measuring devices.
- Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, specifications, work instructions, and testing procedures.
- Identify components, determine assembly tolerances, and ensure dimensional accuracy of mechanical assemblies.
- Select appropriate tools, fixtures, and equipment to complete assembly and welding operations.
- Maintain accurate labor and production records for all work performed.
- Interface with Production Leads, Supervisors, Quality Assurance, and Engineering to ensure on-time customer delivery.
- Perform routine equipment maintenance and maintain clean, organized work areas in support of Lean Manufacturing and 6S initiatives.
- Participate in continuous improvement activities to improve safety, quality, efficiency, and productivity.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Skills Required
- 3–5 years of experience in industrial manufacturing, precision assembly, welding, integration, or a related technical field.
- Experience assembling precision mechanical or electrical components.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, models, blueprints, specifications, work instructions, and test procedures.
- Experience troubleshooting and resolving manufacturing or assembly issues.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to safely operate hand tools, precision measuring instruments, fixtures, and production equipment.
- Basic mathematical skills, including performing measurements and calculations.
- Basic computer proficiency with Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Education
- Highschool diploma or GED
Additional Requirements
- Schedule: 1st shift (5:00 AM – 1:30 PM) with overtime and weekend hours as needed
- Preferred: Trade school certification, technical degree, or industry certification in welding, manufacturing, or a related discipline.
- Preferred: Experience in a Lean Manufacturing environment.
- Preferred: Experience with: Resistance Seam Welding, Precision TIG Welding, Spot Welding
- Preferred: Experience reading and interpreting: Weld Procedure Specifications (WPS), Procedure Qualification Records (PQR)
- Preferred: Experience performing helium leak testing or weld verification.
- Preferred: Experience supporting continuous improvement or Lean initiatives.
