Lead School Age Teacher / Bus Driver Job Summary
We are seeking a passionate, energetic, and dependable Lead School Age Teacher/Bus Driver to join our vibrant educational team. In this dynamic role, you will create a safe, engaging, and nurturing environment for school-age children while leading meaningful activities that support their growth, creativity, and development.
The ideal candidate is enthusiastic, organized, and committed to providing high-quality care while inspiring children to explore their interests, build confidence, and develop essential social and emotional skills. This position includes supervising children in our school-age program, facilitating enrichment activities, and safely transporting children to and from school using a KinderCare school bus.
The successful candidate must be at least 21 years of age and willing to drive the center bus. This role is perfect for an individual who enjoys working with children, creating memorable experiences, and being a positive influence in their everyday lives.
Responsibilities
- Plan and implement age-appropriate curriculum and activities that promote childhood development, creativity, independence, and social skills.
- Create a welcoming classroom environment where children feel supported, respected, and encouraged to learn.
- Supervise children during classroom activities, outdoor play, meals, field trips, transportation, and special events while ensuring safety at all times.
- Safely transport children to and from school using the center bus while following all transportation policies, procedures, and safety guidelines.
- Complete required transportation checks, including ensuring children are safely secured and accounted for before, during, and after transportation.
- Manage classroom behavior using positive guidance techniques, effective classroom management strategies, and reinforcement practices.
- Facilitate engaging youth activities including sports, games, STEM activities, arts and crafts, theater projects, and enrichment programs.
- Encourage teamwork, leadership, confidence, and positive peer relationships among children.
- Maintain accurate attendance records, daily activity logs, transportation records, and incident reports.
- Communicate professionally and effectively with families regarding children's experiences, development, and daily activities.
- Collaborate with teachers and leadership to maintain a safe, inclusive, and high-quality learning environment.
- Follow all childcare licensing requirements, health and safety procedures, and KinderCare policies.
- Maintain current knowledge of CPR, First Aid, emergency procedures, and child safety regulations.
Qualifications
- Must be at least 21 years of age to operate the center bus and transport children.
- Previous experience working with children in childcare, education, summer camps, youth programs, or similar settings preferred.
- Must meet state childcare licensing requirements for a school-age teacher position.
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record required.
- Must successfully complete required background checks, fingerprinting, drug screening, and employment screenings as required by company policy and state regulations.
- Must be able to safely operate a childcare transportation vehicle.
- Ability to complete required transportation training and safety procedures.
- Current CPR and First Aid certification preferred (or willingness to obtain certification).
- Strong classroom management skills and the ability to support children with different learning styles and behaviors.
- Knowledge of child development principles and early childhood education practices preferred.
- Experience leading group activities, sports, enrichment programs, or youth activities is a plus.
- Strong communication skills with children, families, and team members.
- Dependable, responsible, patient, and passionate about making a difference in children's lives.
- Flexible schedule
Education & Experience
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Coursework, certification, or experience in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Education, or a related field preferred.
- Previous experience as a teacher, childcare provider, camp counselor, youth leader, or classroom assistant preferred.
- Leadership experience working with children or youth programs is highly desirable.
