The Bargain Basket Thrift Store is looking for a Shift Lead who is also able to work in our thrift store supporting daily operations and ecommerce.
A Bargain Basket Shift Lead is responsible for assisting the Manager and volunteers with all aspects of the store operation including providing guidance and support to volunteers, acceptance of donations, sorting, pricing, merchandising, cash management, ecommerce listings/packing/mailing, facility maintenance/cleanliness and excellent customer service and donor relationships.
The ideal candidate will personally embody the virtues of our faith tradition in all aspects of management: love, patience, kindness, inclusion, honesty, friendliness and joy that can be sensed by donors, customers, volunteers, and staff.
This position requires working Saturdays as well working outside as needed
Responsibilities:
- Assist with training, directing, and providing guidance and support to the thrift store volunteers.
- Assist with the pricing and distribution of merchandise to the sales floor.
- Assists with display merchandising as directed.
- Assists with sorting pricing and stocking of store items as well as maintaining the cleanliness of the facility.
- Assists customers and donors with questions and purchases. Demonstrates high sensitivity to customer service to ensure customers have a positive shopping experience. Role models behavior expected of the volunteers when interacting with customers.
- Assists with and utilizes all aspects of the cash management systems including cash handling, check and credit card processing, and daily banking. Adheres to cash handling policies and procedures.
- Assists Managers with tracking volunteer hours, monthly scheduling, ordering of supplies for store, and opening and closing the store.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds and assist intake team receiving donations outside.
Qualifications:
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Ability to operate a cash register and prepare bank deposits.
- Shows maturity, good judgement and performs duties in a professional manner.
- Ability to operate a computer, word processing and excel software, copy machine, and answer telephones.
- Must be in good health and able to lift or perform physical activities.
- Ability to help volunteers with incoming donations and manage the flow of intake of merchandise.
- Must be willing to work most Saturdays
- Bi-lingual Spanish or Creole
