Ardmore Animal Hospital is seeking a highly organized, proactive, and inspiring Veterinary Lead Technician to orchestrate the daily operations of our medical floor. In this role, you will be the heartbeat of the treatment area, ensuring that patient care is delivered efficiently, safely, and with the highest medical standards.
The Lead Technician blends hands-on clinical expertise with exceptional team leadership. You will be responsible for keeping appointments moving smoothly, driving the training and development of our assistant and technician staff, managing scheduling, and fostering a positive, high-performing team culture. Key ResponsibilitiesAppointment Flow & Floor Management
- Direct the daily workflow of the hospital treatment area
- Monitor schedules to ensure appointments, diagnostics, and surgeries run efficiently
- Adjust team resources to accommodate emergencies and changing caseloads
Training & Mentorship
- Lead onboarding and training programs for veterinary assistants and technicians
- Assess clinical competencies and provide hands-on coaching
- Support team development through mentorship and continuing education
Scheduling & Labor Optimization
- Create and manage balanced schedules for the nursing team
- Ensure adequate staffing coverage across shifts
- Monitor labor utilization and adjust staffing based on workflow demands
Team Engagement & Culture
- Foster a collaborative, supportive, and positive work environment
- Lead team huddles and engagement initiatives
- Promote open communication and professional growth
Clinical Oversight & Safety
- Maintain high standards for patient care and medical record accuracy
- Ensure OSHA compliance and hospital cleanliness standards are met
- Support quality control and patient safety initiatives
Cross-Department Collaboration
- Partner closely with veterinarians, the Lead Doctor, Practice Manager, and CSR team
- Facilitate seamless communication between departments to optimize client and patient experiences
Qualifications & Skills
- Credentialed Veterinary Technician (RVT, LVT, or CVT) strongly preferred
- Highly experienced Veterinary Assistants with demonstrated leadership experience will also be considered
- Minimum of 3–5 years of clinical veterinary experience
- At least 1–2 years in a leadership, shift lead, trainer, or supervisory role
- Strong organizational, communication, and conflict-resolution skills
- Advanced technical proficiency, including anesthesia monitoring, IV catheter placement, emergency triage, and patient nursing care
- Experience with veterinary practice management software preferred
- Passion for mentorship, team development, and delivering exceptional patient care
