Overall Responsibility:
Pathways Academy is a public charter school that has a unique and flexible learning environment that allows school-aged parents to successfully complete their education. The school offers an intimate setting of approximately 300 students with a blended instructional model. Students from grades 7 through 12 attend school while their childcare needs are being met at the same location or virtually online while being supported off-site by a mentor or advocate. The Reading Interventionist is responsible for supporting student achievement in the area of Reading and English Language Arts with special attention to Tier II and III instruction. The Interventionist provides individual or small group instruction to students who are struggling academically. This position is also responsible for monitoring, reporting, and communicating student progress and performance.
Overall Responsibility:
- Provides high-quality reading/English instruction to individual students and small groups
- Uses data to provide instruction to students and to bring their skills to grade-level
- Collaborates with teachers, administration, and families to help identify best practices for individual and small groups of students
- Uses identified research-based intervention focuses specifically on individual student needs
- Maintains data-based documentation of continuous monitoring of student performance and progress
- Provides data to school teams and participates in decisions about student progress
- Communicate with teachers, administration, and families regarding student progress
- Assists with identifying students for placement in intervention groups
- Provides diagnostic assessments for students as needed
- Provides input for program development
- Ability to maintain a positive learning environment
- Participation in staff development focused on student performance.
- Other duties as assigned by the principal or their designee.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred (English a plus)
- 1-2 years’ experience working with students
- Michigan teaching certificate (a plus)
- Demonstrated ability to work independently without close supervision
- Work well in team environment
- Ability to handle crisis situations with professionalism and tack
Must be computer literate: MS Word Office Suite

- Hearing and speaking clearly to exchange information in person and/or on the telephone.
- Sitting or standing for extended periods of time.
- Must have dexterity of hands and fingers; kneeling, bending at the waist and reaching overhead over the shoulders and horizontally.
Job Type: FULL-TIME 10 Month school year position, attractive benefit package.
