Proprietary technology. Project Ownership. Room to grow. The role that delivers on all three.
HPS Tech (hpstech.com) is an Australian business delivering end-to-end process engineering for dairy and food manufacturers globally - designing, delivering and commissioning the systems behind some of the most technically complex facilities in the sector. Their technology is proprietary. Their projects are theirs from concept to handover.
With a significant pipeline of new projects across the US and European expansion underway, this is a pivotal period of growth for HPS. This newly created role will oversee significant capability value projects from pre-sales through to commissioning and customer handover - and sits at the centre of that growth.
The role
You will lead complex, high value, hygienic processing projects from design through to commissioning - covering procurement, construction, commissioning, and the customer relationships, and the engineering judgment calls in between. Graduate engineers support you. Leadership backs you. You are accountable for the system running on handover day.
What you will do
- Deliver projects end-to-end: scope, design, fabrication, commissioning, and handover
- Develop, interpret and amend P&IDs and PFDs, and perform sizing calculations
- Specify and oversee hygienic processing systems - CIP sets, pasteurisation, separation, membrane filtration, and spray drying
- Own the customer relationship on every project - you are the face of HPS on the job
- Direct and develop graduate engineers working alongside you
- Support business development by building relationships that generate the next project
The experience you will bring
- Deep, hands-on process engineering experience in dairy or a comparably hygienic environment - brewery, pharmaceutical, or food manufacturing where hygiene and food safety standards are genuinely non-negotiable
- Experience leading complex capital or installation projects from concept through to commissioning and handover
- Degree in process, biochemical, mechanical, chemical, food, or electrical engineering - or a related technical discipline. Technical depth and field experience matter more than the discipline on your degree.
- Working knowledge of CIP design, hygienic process standards, and food safety requirements
- Comfortable in direct customer-facing situations - plant operators, site engineers, and business owners are your audience
- Right to work in the United States
Why HPS
- Full project ownership - design, build, commission, handover. Competitors silo their engineers. We don’t.
- Proprietary technology: Lactoferrin extraction, EBRT bacteria removal, Prostan protein standardisation - you will work on the leading edge.
- Flat structure with direct access to leadership - no approval chain between you and the decision.
- Central Valley, California - the heart of US dairy production, embedded in the industry, not adjacent to it.
- Career advancement on performance, not tenure.
- Competitive salary package commensurate with experience + relocation support available.
