Position Summary:
This position involves designing controls systems for automation machines,
ensuring they meet project requirements, customer expectations, and ACA standards. The
candidate should communicate project requirements, develop controls architecture, verify
electrical design packages, and create designs that adhere to safety and standards. They will
interpret internal cost sheets and develop plans that meet cost estimates, accurately report project
status, achieve project milestones, and determine the cost of scope changes. The role also
requires reviewing and evaluating new control-related products, recommending project-specific
training, and following ISO 9001 procedures.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Document project related requirements/discussions and effectively communicate these
requirements to the project team.
- Work with other members of the project team, internally and externally, to develop a
controls architecture that provides the required functionality, based on ACA standards
and customer specifications.
- Verify electrical design packages before release to the shop floor, based on adherence to
accepted electrical codes, accuracy, completeness, use of standard materials, use of
standard methods, and safety.
- Create and implement designs that are acceptable based on functionality and adherence to
standards. Programs must be accurate, complete, and meet existing safety requirements
before being released to the Shop team.
- Interpret and understand how to apply internal cost sheets.
- Develop plans to accurately produce results that meet cost estimates.
- Accurately report project status through regular status reports.
- Ensure that project milestones are achieved.
- Determine and document the cost of scope changes internally and externally.
- Review and evaluate new controls related products to provide cost effective and up-to date control solutions.
- Recommend project specific training necessary to increase efficiency and improve
engineering knowledge.
- Follow all procedures and work instructions as defined in the ISO 9001 Quality
Management System.

Qualifications Desired:
- BS Degree in engineering or equivalent experience (Preferred)
- Electrical Troubleshooting of Industrial Control panels and machines REQUIRED.
- 5+ years of experience as a Controls/Automation Engineer or equivalent. Industrial
Automation (Preferred)
- 5+ years programming PLC’s and HMI’s using Ladder Logic. Allen-Bradley PLC
(Preferred)
- Motion control of Servo’s, Stepper motors, Induction motors using VFD’s and Servo
Drives. Allen-Bradley (Preferred)
- Design of Electrical Control Systems using CAD tools. AutoCAD Electrical (Preferred)
- Industrial Robotics Experience with multi-axis robots. Fanuc and Epson (Preferred)
- Demonstrated ability to effectively work with a team of technical professionals.

Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee will work in an active
mechanical assembly shop environment. The noise level in the work environment
can be minimal to high. Safe work practices are always required in accordance
with OSHA regulations, ACA safety protocols, and customer safety protocols.
Position Classification
This is a full-time, exempt salaried position. Depending on the needs of the business, the ability to
work more than 40 hours/week and/or weekends may be required.
Travel
Travel is required to customer sites as deemed necessary dependent on the project scope.
