Job Summary
Join our dynamic team as a Retail Battery Technician, where you will play a vital role in ensuring our customers' batteries are powered and maintained at peak performance. This energetic position involves diagnosing, replacing, and maintaining, reconditioning, and recycling batteries while providing exceptional customer service. Delivery and pickup of batteries around the tri-state area may be required. Also comfort with computers is a plus as we are a Uhaul dealer and operate a storage facility on-site. You will be dealing with the public thru in-person and phone based communication. 40+ hours a week, working every other Saturday usually. Six paid holidays included in addition.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose battery issues and perform replacements using tools efficiently
- Must be able to be on feet all day and in good physical condition.
- The job entails but is not limited to: battery testing, installation, sales, recycling, delivery, and configuration.
- Must be able to lift at least 70lbs comfortably.
- Must have a valid drivers license.
- Provide excellent customer service by explaining battery issues and recommending solutions
- Ability to comfortable handle cash and credit card transactions.
- Handle heavy lifting safely when removing or installing batteries and other vehicle components
- Comfortable with operating a forklift or being open to a training on the forklift.
Experience
- Dealership experience or automotive service background preferred but not required
- Strong mechanical knowledge is a bonus.
- Hands-on experience using hand tools, power tools, and automotive repair equipment is an advantage.
- Knowledge of automotive maintenance tasks such as oil changes, tire services, alignment, and minor mechanical repairs is a bonus as well.
- Customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
