Travel RN - Surgical ICU

Job Details

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Surgical ICU position requiring MICU and/or SICU experience at a Level I Trauma Center.

Work in the Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU) of a hospital environment
Care for complex, high-acuity medical and trauma/neuro/surgical ICU patients
Patient ratio of 1:2
Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
Block scheduling available for day or night shifts
Floating primarily within the Critical Care Division, with additional floating to other units as census needs require
Weekend requirements vary based on unit needs
Cerner charting system experience preferred

Active RN license (Montana or Compact) currently in hand
Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS (PALS preferred)
Minimum 1+ year of experience in specialty required
MICU and/or SICU experience required; float pool-only experience does not meet the requirements of this role
Level I Trauma Center experience required (Level II preferred)
Teaching hospital experience preferred
Previous charge nurse experience preferred
Skilled in IV therapy, arterial line management, central line care, PICC line management, and blood product administration
Experience with ventilator management, ABG interpretation, and care of ventilated patients
Experience managing patients with traumatic brain injury, post-craniotomy, and post-neurosurgery care
Experience with CVVHD/CRRT and management of acute/chronic renal failure
Skilled in titrating cardiac and vasoactive drips, and administering continuous IV sedation
References required for consideration

Provide independent, competent care for high-acuity trauma, neuro, and surgical ICU patients
Support includes exposure to a wide range of critical care specialties including cardiovascular, respiratory, neurological, and GI cases
Work within a Level I Trauma Center setting
Candidates must reside outside a 75-mile radius of the facility to qualify for travel rate; local candidates not accepted at travel rate
Former permanent employees must have a 2-year break in service before eligibility
License or background check hits will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis for approval
This position is not suited for novice or entry-level RNs
