Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Physical Therapy Technician to join our healthcare team. This role provides vital support in delivering high-quality patient care across various settings, including outpatient clinics, inpatient units, and post-acute care facilities. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in patient service and care, with knowledge of physiology and medical terminology to assist physical therapists effectively. This position offers an opportunity to work closely with diverse patient populations, including orthopedics, geriatrics, and those requiring acute or sub-acute care.
Responsibilities
- Assist physical therapists with patient intake, setup, and preparation for therapy sessions
- Support patient mobility and exercise routines under supervision, ensuring safety and comfort
- Monitor and document patient responses during therapy sessions, reporting any concerns or adverse reactions
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of therapy equipment and treatment areas
- Educate patients on prescribed exercises and post-treatment care instructions
- Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments and updating patient records
- Ensure compliance with hospital or clinic protocols related to infection control and safety standards
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes in both outpatient and inpatient settings
Qualifications
- Prior experience in hospital, outpatient, or clinic environments preferred, especially in orthopedics, geriatrics, or post-acute care
- Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology relevant to physical therapy practices
- Strong patient service skills with a compassionate approach to patient care
- Ability to work effectively in acute care, inpatient, outpatient, or sub-acute settings
- Excellent communication skills for interacting with patients, families, and healthcare team members
- Experience supporting patients with diverse needs including orthopedics and geriatrics is advantageous
- Certification or training as a Physical Therapy Technician is preferred but not required; relevant experience will be considered
- Ability to adapt quickly to different clinical environments while maintaining professionalism and attention to detail
