Job Posting: Deli Clerk / Food Prep Associate
Kalam’s Bazaar is hiring a dependable and energetic Deli Clerk / Food Prep Associate to help grow our deli and prepared foods department.
This role is perfect for someone who takes pride in clean work, good food, and friendly customer service.
Responsibilities
- Keep the deli area clean, organized, stocked, and food-safe
- Prepare sandwiches, wraps, salads, wings, rotisserie chicken, and other ready-to-eat items
- Slice meats and cheeses safely and accurately
- Package, label, and rotate prepared foods properly
- Follow proper food handling, sanitation, and temperature control procedures
- Help create and test new deli menu items
- Maintain attractive displays for grab-and-go foods
- Assist customers with deli orders and recommendations
- Track low-stock items and communicate needs to management
- Clean equipment, counters, slicers, prep areas, hot food stations, and storage areas
- Support catering, party trays, and special orders as the department grows
Ideal Candidate
- Has deli, kitchen, restaurant, grocery, or food prep experience
- Understands cleanliness and food safety
- Can work quickly during busy periods
- Is reliable, punctual, and willing to learn
- Has a positive attitude with customers and coworkers
- Can stand for long periods and lift moderate weight
- Is interested in helping build and expand a growing deli program
Preferred But Not Required
- Food handler certificate
- Experience making sandwiches, fried foods, wings, rotisserie chicken, or hot bar items
- Bilingual ability is a plus
- Experience in halal, South Asian, Caribbean, Middle Eastern, or ethnic grocery foods is a plus
Schedule
Full-time and part-time positions available. Must be available for weekends and busy store hours.
