Job Summary
Join our dedicated caregiving team as a compassionate and energetic caregiver working 12-hour overnight shifts from 6 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. in a supportive environment that values your commitment to providing exceptional patient care. In this vital role, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety, comfort, and well-being of residents through attentive observation, personalized assistance, and diligent adherence to care plans. Your proactive approach and empathetic nature will help create a nurturing atmosphere where residents feel valued and supported around the clock.
Duties
- Provide hands-on personal care assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using patient transfer methods such as Hoyer lifts and manual handling techniques.
- Monitor residents’ vital signs, observe for changes in condition, and report findings accurately while maintaining HIPAA compliance to protect patient confidentiality.
- Administer medications following prescribed care plans and ensure proper documentation of medication administration in accordance with healthcare regulations.
- Assist with meal preparation, feeding, and ensuring proper nutrition tailored to individual dietary needs.
- Support residents with cognitive impairments such as dementia or Alzheimer’s disease by implementing memory care strategies and engaging them in appropriate activities.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light cleaning duties, sanitizing common areas, and adhering to infection control protocols.
- Facilitate resident transportation within the facility or community using personal transportation assistance or other approved methods while ensuring safety at all times.
- Communicate effectively with residents, families, and healthcare team members to coordinate care and update care plans as needed.
- Assist with hospice or home health care services when required, providing compassionate support during sensitive times.
- Document all patient observations, interventions, and incidents thoroughly to ensure continuity of care.
Experience
- Prior experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home health environments is highly preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to monitor patients’ conditions through vital signs measurement and patient observation skills.
- Experience with Alzheimer’s care, dementia support, memory care strategies, or neurodevelopmental disorders enhances your ability to serve residents effectively.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and experience maintaining confidentiality in healthcare settings is essential.
- Hands-on experience with patient transfer methods such as Hoyer lifts or other manual handling equipment is desirable.
- Familiarity with medication administration procedures and documentation practices for long-term or short-term care settings.
- Ability to perform CPR and first aid confidently to respond swiftly during emergencies.
- Strong background in caregiving roles involving personal transportation assistance, meal preparation, light cleaning, and supporting individuals with disabilities or developmental challenges.
- Excellent communication skills for engaging with residents of varying needs including geriatrics, intellectual disabilities support, autism spectrum disorder individuals, and those requiring hospice or palliative care.
