Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Diesel & Heavy Equipment Field Mechanic to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of heavy machinery and construction equipment in the field. Your expertise will ensure optimal equipment performance, safety, and reliability across various job sites. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work with diverse machinery including excavators, cranes, forklifts, and other industrial equipment, utilizing your mechanical knowledge and troubleshooting skills to deliver exceptional service.
Duties
- Perform comprehensive diagnostics and repairs on diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics, electrical systems, brakes, suspensions, and air brakes on heavy equipment such as excavators, cranes, forklifts, and construction machinery.
- Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance to ensure equipment operates at peak efficiency.
- Fabricate parts or modify existing components using welding, hand tools, power tools, and schematics to meet specific operational needs.
- Troubleshoot complex mechanical and electrical issues using detailed schematics and diagnostic tools; identify root causes quickly to minimize downtime.
- Assist with heavy lifting and equipment assembly or disassembly during repairs or upgrades on-site.
- Perform tire services, alignments, HVAC repairs (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning), and other specialized maintenance tasks.
- Ensure all repairs comply with OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) standards and safety regulations while providing excellent customer service to clients on-site.
Experience
- Proven mechanic experience working with heavy construction equipment or industrial machinery in a dealership or service environment.
- Strong background in diesel engine diagnostics and repair, including familiarity with Caterpillar or similar OEM equipment.
- Hands-on experience with fabrication techniques such as welding and soldering; ability to interpret schematics and electrical diagrams.
- Knowledge of heavy equipment operation combined with maintenance expertise in excavators, cranes, tractors-trailers, farm machinery, and other construction machinery.
- Skilled in electrical diagnostics, automotive diagnostics, hydraulic troubleshooting, brake repair, suspension systems, HVAC systems, and tire service.
- Experience utilizing hand tools, power tools, diagnostic software for electrical systems, and heavy lifting equipment safely.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly to clients and team members.

Pay: $35.00 - $45.00 per hour
