Position Summary
We are seeking a Controls Engineer to design, develop, test, and improve the electrical control systems used on our custom industrial fire suppression equipment. This position offers a unique opportunity to combine electrical controls, mechanical design, and hands-on manufacturing support while working alongside an experienced engineering team.
What You’ll Do
● Design electrical control systems for custom industrial equipment.
● Develop electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, control panel layouts, and manufacturing drawings.
● Design and support AC/DC electrical systems, control panels, and power distribution.
● Assist with PLC programming, controller configuration, and HMI development (Codesys, Danfoss Plus+1, or similar platforms).
● Develop and troubleshoot control logic, alarms, interlocks, and operating sequences.
● Create and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs) and engineering documentation.
● Utilize SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar CAD software for mechanical component design and manufacturing support.
● Support manufacturing, testing, equipment commissioning, startup, and troubleshooting.
● Perform root cause analysis and recommend product improvements.
● Ensure compliance with NFPA, NEC, and company engineering standards.
● Collaborate closely with engineering, production, and field service teams to deliver reliable, high-quality equipment.
Qualifications
● Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related engineering discipline (relevant industry experience may be considered).
● Understanding of industrial electrical control systems.
● Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
● Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and communication skills.
● Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
Preferred
● Experience with PLC programming (Codesys, Danfoss Plus+1, or similar).
● Experience using SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or other 3D CAD software.
● Knowledge of AC/DC power systems and industrial controls.
● Experience with fire pump controls, diesel engine controls, or other industrial equipment.
● Familiarity with manufacturing processes, P&IDs, ERP systems, and BOM management.

Work Environment
This position is based in our Port Arthur, Texas manufacturing facility and includes a combination of engineering office work and hands-on manufacturing support. Occasional travel may be required for equipment testing, commissioning, or customer support.

● Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
● Ability to safely work in an industrial manufacturing environment.
