Glenbrook North High School's Special Education department is seeking an Instructional Assistant - Advanced Support: Personal Care for the 2026-2027 school year.
The Personal Care Instructional Assistant works collaboratively with students, staff, parents, and adult service and community agencies to assist in all aspects of the daily instructional program for students with disabilities within the school and community setting. The person in this position will provide instructional support with specific responsibility for assisting in the supervision, care, and instruction of students with disabilities in the general education setting and/or in special education settings while promoting peer relations and independence in the classroom under the direct and indirect supervision of the teacher and other related service staff.
Education and/or Experience and Qualifications

State Paraprofessional License (60 or more college credit hours or pass the Paraprofessional test to apply for a license) OR Substitute Teacher License.

Successful completion of the District Lifting Evaluation.

Experience working with high school students is preferred.

Required to have a valid driver's license and use reliable personal transportation to meet students at community-based sites as needed.

Willingness to obtain the qualifications to drive a van or activity bus.

Professional Educator License (PEL): $0.50 per hour

Longevity: 5-10 Years of completed continuous service as an IA: $0.50 per hour, or 11+ Years of completed continuous service: $1.00 per hour.
