Safety Basis Analyst 3
Compa Industries is searching for qualified candidates for a Safety Basis Analyst 3 position at Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) in Los Alamos, NM.
Salary: $105/hr – $115/hr
Location: Hybrid – Los Alamos, NM (TA-55 support)
Citizenship: U.S. Citizenship Required
Work Schedule: Flexible schedule; must be open to weekends (Sat/Sun)
Clearance: Ability to obtain DOE Q Clearance (Active preferred)
Assignment Duration: 1 Year (Strong potential for extension)

U.S. Citizenship with ability to obtain a DOE Q Clearance
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Science + 12+ years of experience
Direct Safety Basis / USQ experience in nuclear or DOE environments
Safety Basis Analysts at this level play a critical role in ensuring safe operations within high-hazard nuclear facilities at LANL. You will directly support Unreviewed Safety Question (USQ) efforts at TA-55, helping maintain compliance, mitigate risk, and enable mission-critical work in a fast-paced nuclear environment.
Lead and perform hazard and risk analyses for nuclear and non-nuclear facilities
Develop and maintain safety basis documentation (DSA, TSRs, safety assessments)
Perform USQ determinations and support ongoing facility compliance efforts
Conduct hazard identification, accident analysis, and control selection
Collaborate with engineering, operations, and safety teams to ensure regulatory compliance
Support increased operational tempo and evolving mission requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Science
Minimum 12+ years of relevant safety basis or nuclear analysis experience
Strong experience with:
USQ process and safety basis documentation
Nuclear facility hazard analysis
DOE/NNSA regulatory environment
Ability to pass Safety Basis Qualification Review Board
Active DOE Q Clearance
Prior experience at LANL or TA-55
Background supporting Hazard Category nuclear facilities
Ability to quickly qualify and operate independently in a high-demand environment
Hybrid role with required onsite presence in Los Alamos
Must be flexible to support weekend work as needed
Per diem / relocation support available
High-priority role supporting increased workload at TA-55
