Position Summary
As a Barista at Purple Waves, you’ll be the face of our café, preparing high-quality espresso beverages, serving pastries, maintaining a welcoming environment, and creating meaningful connections with our guests. You’ll thrive in a fast-paced setting while maintaining attention to detail, cleanliness, and consistency.
Responsibilities
- Prepare espresso drinks, coffee, tea, and other beverages to company standards.
- Greet every guest warmly and provide exceptional customer service.
- Take orders accurately using our POS system and process payments.
- Recommend menu items, pastries, local beers, wines, and specialty products when appropriate.
- Serve pastries with attention to presentation and quality.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the café, espresso bar, dining area, and back-of-house.
- Restock ingredients, retail items, pastries, grab-and-go products, and supplies throughout the day.
- Follow all food safety, sanitation, and health department guidelines.
- Assist with opening and closing duties, including cleaning equipment and preparing the café for service.
- Monitor inventory levels and communicate low-stock items to management.
- Work collaboratively with teammates to ensure efficient operations during busy periods.
- Support Purple Waves’ sustainability initiatives by minimizing waste and following recycling and composting procedures.
- Help create a positive, welcoming atmosphere for guests and fellow team members.
Qualifications
- Previous barista, café, restaurant, or hospitality experience preferred (training available for the right candidate).
- Passion for coffee, hospitality, and delivering outstanding customer experiences.
- Positive attitude and strong communication skills.
- Ability to multitask and stay organized in a fast-paced environment.
- Reliable, punctual, and dependable.
- Comfortable standing for extended periods and lifting up to 30 lbs.
- Availability to work mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Food Handler’s Certificate is a plus (or willingness to obtain one).
