Position Overview
The ASME Code & Quality Manager is responsible for administering and maintaining the company's ASME Code Quality Control Program while leading quality assurance and quality control activities throughout the organization. This position serves as the primary resource for ASME Code compliance, quality systems, inspections, testing, documentation, and certification activities.
Working closely with engineering, manufacturing, procurement, and customers, the ASME Code & Quality Manager ensures products are fabricated, inspected, tested, and documented in accordance with applicable ASME Code requirements, customer specifications, and company quality standards. As a key member of a small manufacturing organization, this role requires a hands-on and collaborative approach, supporting project execution, continuous improvement initiatives, and overall quality performance.
Key Responsibilities:
ASME Code Compliance & Program Management
- Maintain and administer the company's ASME Quality Control Manual and related procedures.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for ASME Code compliance activities.
- Ensure compliance with applicable ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code requirements, customer specifications, and regulatory standards.
- Coordinate with Authorized Inspectors (AI), Authorized Inspection Agencies (AIA), customers, and third-party inspection organizations.
- Support ASME accreditation reviews, audits, and renewal activities.
- Review project requirements to ensure applicable Code requirements are identified and incorporated throughout fabrication.
- Oversee preparation and completion of Manufacturer's Data Reports and ASME certification documentation.
- Ensure proper documentation, record retention, and traceability for Code-related activities.
Quality Assurance & Quality Control
- Develop, implement, and maintain quality assurance and quality control processes and procedures.
- Ensure inspection and testing activities are performed in accordance with project requirements and applicable standards.
- Review fabrication records, inspection reports, material certifications, and quality documentation for compliance.
- Monitor quality performance and identify opportunities for process improvements.
- Lead investigations of nonconforming materials, products, or processes and implement corrective actions.
- Conduct internal audits and support customer and third-party audits.
- Maintain quality records and ensure documentation is complete, accurate, and readily accessible.
Inspection, Testing & Documentation
- Coordinate and oversee inspections, testing activities, and customer witness points.
- Ensure required NDE, pressure testing, leak testing, and other inspection activities are completed and documented.
- Review inspection and test reports for compliance with project and Code requirements.
- Verify material traceability and documentation throughout the manufacturing process.
- Ensure turnover packages and final quality documentation are complete prior to shipment.
Project Coordination & Customer Support
- Support project execution by coordinating quality, inspection, and documentation requirements throughout the manufacturing process.
- Work closely with engineering, procurement, production, and customers to ensure project requirements are understood and achieved.
- Monitor project quality milestones and assist in resolving issues that could impact schedules or deliverables.
- Coordinate with outside vendors, fabricators, testing agencies, and inspection services as required.
- Provide project status updates related to quality, inspections, testing, and Code compliance.
- Assist in identifying and mitigating project risks associated with quality and compliance requirements.
Continuous Improvement
- Promote a culture of quality, accountability, and continuous improvement throughout the organization.
- Analyze quality trends and performance metrics to identify improvement opportunities.
- Recommend and implement process improvements that enhance product quality, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
- Support employee training related to quality procedures, ASME Code requirements, and inspection practices.
Qualifications
- Experience in manufacturing, quality assurance, pressure vessel fabrication, piping systems, or related industrial environments.
- Experience working with ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code requirements.
- Experience coordinating inspections, testing, and quality documentation in a manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of welding processes, material traceability, NDE methods, and pressure testing practices preferred.
- Experience supporting ASME audits, customer audits, or regulatory compliance programs is highly desirable.

Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to inspect manufacturing and fabrication operations within a shop environment.
- Ability to move and lift materials up to 50 pounds when necessary.
- Ability to work in manufacturing environments, which may include exposure to machinery, noise, and varying temperatures.
- Ability to travel to different manufacturing sites or vendor locations as required.
