Lighting & Bulbs Unlimited is seeking an organized, creative, and customer-focused Lighting Design Assistant / Showroom Project Coordinator to support our Lighting Designer and showroom team.
This is a hands-on, onsite role for someone with strong design-software skills who enjoys lighting, interior design, product development, client service, and project coordination. The successful candidate will assist with lighting selections, proposals, vendor communication, showroom operations, and the design of custom lighting fixtures and prototype parts.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Lighting Designer with residential and commercial lighting projects.
- Research decorative lighting, ceiling fans, lamps, bulbs, shades, finishes, and related products.
- Prepare lighting plans, layouts, product presentations, mood boards, cut sheets, specifications, proposals, and quotes.
- Use CAD, including 3D CAD, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar software to create lighting plans, layouts, presentations, fixture concepts, and prototype drawings.
- Create or revise 3D models and drawings for custom lighting fixtures, fixture components, lamp parts, replacement parts, and prototypes.
- Prepare dimensions, specifications, and documentation for custom fabrication, vendor review, or prototype development.
- Communicate with vendors regarding pricing, product availability, finish options, specifications, and lead times.
- Maintain accurate client files, product selections, samples, pricing, project notes, and follow-up items.
- Assist with scheduling, client follow-up, design presentations, and project coordination.
- Help maintain a clean, organized, professional, and client-ready showroom.
- Support showroom clients, designers, builders, electricians, and vendors in a professional manner.
- Assist with special projects, events, marketing initiatives, and occasional lamp or fixture repair department support.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- At least one year of experience in design support, drafting, customer service, retail showroom sales, administration, project coordination, or a related role.
- Working proficiency with CAD, including 3D CAD, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite, or comparable design software.
- Ability to create or revise accurate 2D and 3D drawings, models, dimensions, and design documentation.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Professional, dependable, customer-service-oriented attitude.
- Ability to work onsite in our Charlotte showroom.
- Availability for occasional Saturdays, showroom events, or schedule flexibility as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- Education or experience in interior design, lighting design, architecture, industrial design, drafting, product design, or a related field.
- Experience with decorative lighting, home furnishings, fixture construction, custom fabrication, or prototype development.
- Experience with Shopify, HubSpot, CRM, POS, ERP, or project-management software.
- Experience in a lighting showroom, interior design firm, residential construction environment, or luxury home-products business.

Pay: $41,600.87 - $54,080.00 per year
