The person in this role reports to the Executive Director, manages the development of the Association’s communications and shares the responsibility for daily business operations and member benefit implementation.
Key Functions
Write all content for electronic member communications, website, social media platforms, and print marketing to align with the Association’s brand and with the purpose of increasing member retention and engagement and recruiting new members.
Collaborate with Executive Director on:
- daily business operations including but not limited to annual event calendar development, membership database analysis and budget preparation.
- the identification and development of non-dues revenue streams.
- the creation and implementation of member retention and engagement and recruitment strategies.
Manage day-to-day business operations, including but not limited to:
- member inquiry response
- meeting administration
- vendor contract compliance and renewal
- partnership program benefit tracking
Qualifications
- New Jersey resident required
- Bachelor’s Degree required
- 3-5 years’ experience in Marketing and Communications-experience in health care, mental health care, and/or public health setting preferred
- Experience working in non-profit membership organizations is a plus
- Public relations experience is a plus
- Strong writing, editing and oral presentation skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively, organize and prioritize work, and multi-task while maintaining attention to detail
- Familiar with Microsoft 365 office suite, Association CRM, virtual meeting platforms, Constant Contact, Canva, Sprout Social, QuickBooks, WordPress; proficiency in one or more of these is a plus
Work environment
Up to 3 months (approximately 3 days per week) of in-person onboarding with the Association’s Executive Director in Essex County NJ is required.
This position will be virtual and as a result you must be able to communicate effectively via electronic means and be comfortable with video conferencing. There will be travel within New Jersey required approximately 4-6 times a year; some night/weekend hours will be required for both virtual and in-person events. Travel to the APA national office in Washington D.C. or the APA Annual Meeting (meeting sites vary) may also be required. The position is full-time.
