Are you passionate about introducing young children to the joy of ballet? Dance Steps Miami is seeking an experienced ballet teacher who loves working with preschool and elementary-aged students and can create a positive, engaging, and structured classroom environment.
As a ballet teacher with us, you will inspire young dancers while building strong technical foundations through the American Ballet Theatre National Training Curriculum. Dance Steps Miami is committed to providing high-quality, age-appropriate ballet education in a positive, nurturing environment where every child feels encouraged to grow.
Responsibilities
- Teach four Saturday morning ballet classes:
- Ages 3–4 (9:00–9:30 a.m.)
- Ages 4–5 (9:30–10:00 a.m.)
- Primary A Ballet (ages 5–6) (10:00–11:00 a.m.)
- Primary B & C Ballet (ages 6–8) (11:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m.)
- Work alongside an experienced classroom assistant who will be present during all classes to support instruction and classroom management.
- Plan and conduct engaging, age-appropriate ballet classes that foster both technical development and a love for dance.
- Teach proper ballet technique, terminology, musicality, coordination, and classroom etiquette.
- Incorporate imaginative and creative teaching methods that keep young students engaged while maintaining classroom structure.
- Uphold Dance Steps Miami’s commitment to age-appropriate choreography, music, costuming, and instruction.
- Create and choreograph routines for performances and the annual recital.
- Provide constructive feedback and encouragement to students.
- Foster a positive, supportive, and inclusive learning environment.
- Communicate professionally with school leadership regarding student progress and classroom needs.
- Collaborate with other instructors to maintain a cohesive training program.
Requirements
- Minimum of 3 years of ballet teaching experience with students ages 3–8.
- Strong background in classical ballet training.
- Ability to manage a classroom of young children with patience, positivity, and confidence.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to motivate and inspire students while maintaining appropriate classroom discipline.
- Ballet teaching certification preferred but not required.
- Certification in the ABT National Training Curriculum is preferred. Other teaching certifications, such as RAD, are also welcome.
- Ability and willingness to teach Contemporary dance is preferred but not required.
- Availability to teach Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. during the school year (September through May).
