Overview
Join our dynamic mental health team as a Counseling Intern and gain invaluable hands-on experience in providing compassionate, evidence-based mental health services. This internship offers a unique opportunity to develop your clinical skills while supporting individuals across diverse populations, including children, adolescents, and adults. You will work closely with licensed professionals to deliver therapeutic interventions, conduct assessments, and contribute to treatment planning in a supportive environment committed to growth and excellence.
Responsibilities
- Conduct mental health assessments, intake interviews, and diagnostic evaluations using ICD-9 and ICD-10 coding standards.
- Support the delivery of individual, group, and family therapy sessions utilizing DBT.
- Participate in crisis intervention and crisis management activities to ensure client safety and well-being.
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation adhering to HIPAA regulations, medical documentation standards, and electronic medical records (EMR/EHR) protocols.
- Contribute to treatment planning by collecting data through clinical research, progress notes, and behavioral health assessments.
- Engage in telehealth therapy sessions, providing patient care remotely while ensuring confidentiality and compliance with clinical ethical guidelines.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on case management efforts for clients with co-occurring disorders or developmental disabilities.
Requirements
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in social work, psychology, counseling, or a related field.
- Experience working with children, youth, or individuals with disabilities is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of evidence-based practices such as DBT, trauma-focused therapy, and okay therapy.
- Familiarity with ICD coding systems (ICD-9/ICD-10) for diagnostic evaluation documentation.
- Strong understanding of mental health assessments, treatment planning, and clinical documentation standards.
- Experience working with telehealth platforms and familiarity with HIPAA compliance protocols.
- Excellent communication skills for client engagement and team collaboration; ability to handle crisis situations effectively.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations and clinical ethical guidelines.
