We are seeking a dedicated Ceramic Studio Assistant to support small-batch pottery operations in south Austin. This role is production-focused and involves painting large quantities of ceramic cactus pieces on a daily basis and also assisting in other studio operations tasks.
Prior experience with ceramics is highly valued. The ideal candidate has an artistic background, experience in a studio setting, strong communication skills, and a calm, and focused personality. You WILL NOT be interfacing with customers or painting your own style. Training will be provided on our specific painting techniques.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in painting ceramic cactus pieces using our-specific techniques (training provided)
- Help finish, quality-check, and prepare ceramic pieces for retail
- Assist with kiln loading and unloading
- Support daily studio operations (sweeping, trash, recycling)
- Communicate clearly and work collaboratively with a small team and a variety of personalities
What We’re Looking For
- Prior ceramics or studio experience preferred (kiln use, paint or glaze familiarity a plus)
- Highly detailed oriented personality
- Calm and focus demeanor
- Comfortable with repetitive, detail-driven tasks as part of a growing studio
