The Director of Environmental Services (DES) will be responsible for managing all maintenance inside and outside of the facility. The individual is also responsible for managing and overseeing the housekeeping and laundry staff to ensure a clean, safe and comfortable facility for our residents.
Minimum Requirements:
- At minimum high school diploma; vocational school preferable if in an area of
maintenance.
- Must be able to read, write and speak English
- Previous maintenance experience required preferably in a healthcare setting.
- Current valid driver’s license.
- Prior supervisory experience highly recommended.
- The ability to determine daily/weekly/monthly preventative maintenance checks.
- Computer knowledge; typing, and ability to create policy and procedures highly preferred
- Must have a second-class C boilers license. (willing to help individual obtain)
- Ability to plan and operate a budget.
- Must possesses leadership ability and willingness to work harmoniously with and supervise other personnel.
- Ability to follow all safety rules, regulations and policies and procedures of the facility including: Vulnerable adult abuse and neglect policies.
- Ability to receive calls on off hours to assist in the management in the operations of the facility.
- Knowledge of Skilled nursing facility rules, regulations and emergency preparedness is highly preferred.
- The ability to teach staff at in-services.
- Must be able to meet the physical demands of the job - walk, sit, stairs, stand, bend, push, lift weights involved with maintenance for up to 95% of the work day.
- Must have the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors and government.
- Must possess the ability to seek out new methods and principles and be willing to incorporate them into existing housekeeping/laundry practices. Must be a team player with excellent communication skills and be able to communicate with management, residents, and families; exhibit excellent customer service, conflict resolution, have a positive attitude and motivation to ensure resident satisfaction, and organizational skills with the ability to function as part of a multi-disciplinary team interacting with resident's and many levels of staff daily.
