Position Summary
The Production Scheduler is responsible for developing and maintaining production schedules to ensure efficient manufacturing operations and on time shipment of finished goods. Reporting to the Senior Director of Operations, this position works closely with the Director of Operations and the Production Planner to convert demand forecasts into executable production schedules.
The Production Planner is responsible for forecasting demand and production requirements. The Production Scheduler is responsible for scheduling production based on labor availability, machine capacity, material availability, and operational priorities. This role serves as a key link between planning and manufacturing, ensuring production resources are effectively utilized while maintaining schedule attainment and operational efficiency.
Success in this role will be measured through schedule attainment, material availability, inventory accuracy, and on time production performance.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Create and maintain daily and weekly production schedules that maximize machine utilization, labor efficiency, and on time delivery
- Review forecasts provided by Planning, inventory levels, and production requirements to establish production priorities
- Manage material requirements through the BOM explosion process, purchasing raw materials and packaging materials to support production schedules and maintain appropriate inventory levels
- Communicate schedule changes and priorities to production supervisors
- Adjust production schedules as needed to address equipment downtime, labor shortages, material shortages, or changes in business priorities
- Maintain accurate production planning (creating production orders) within the ERP system and distribute production reports and schedule updates to management
- Support continuous improvement initiatives that improve scheduling accuracy, inventory management, and production efficiency
- Assist with inventory counts and inventory reconciliation activities as needed
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Associate's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Operations, or related field preferred
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in production scheduling, production planning, inventory control, or manufacturing operations
- Experience working with ERP systems and production planning tools
- Experience with purchasing, inventory management, or material planning preferred
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Ability to analyze data and make sound decisions in a fast paced environment
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt quickly to changing business needs

Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit, stand, and walk throughout the workday
- Ability to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds
- Ability to work in an office and manufacturing environment
Work Schedule
- Monday through Friday.
- Typical schedule is an 8 hour shift
- Occasional overtime may be required to support production demands
