Job Summary
Bring your expertise in underground utilities, groundwater management, or drilling to a specialized leadership role. Silver Leaf SWPPP is hiring a Civil Construction Foreman - Dewatering to oversee critical water control operations on major commercial developments and civil infrastructure projects—ranging from high-volume structural foundations to deep sewer, storm drain, and lift station installations.
In this role, you will manage complex jobsites with water volumes up to 500,000 gallons per day. You will lead a dedicated field crew, maintain mechanical and electrical system, and ensure strict environmental compliance. This includes monitoring and disposal of environmentally contaminated groundwater.
We are looking for a foreman who commands respect in the field and is highly proficient with digital construction management tools for tracking daily logs, flow rates, and site compliance data.
Responsibilities
- Crew Leadership: Direct and supervise field crews of 2 to 6 technicians; delegate daily tasks, enforce strict safety protocols (OSHA), and conduct on-site safety meetings.
- System Operations: Oversee the end-to-end setup, operation, and teardown of complex dewatering systems (pumps, piping, wellpoints) to manage volumes up to 500,000 GPD.
- Technical Troubleshooting: Perform routine mechanical and electrical maintenance on equipment to ensure safe system operations and reliability.
- Environmental Compliance: Monitor groundwater discharge for potential contaminants; assist in setting up filtration systems and ensure total compliance with state environmental regulations and discharge permits.
- Digital Documentation: Maintain precise daily logs, equipment maintenance records, flow-rate tracking, and progress reports using ProCore and ComplianceGO.
- Plan Interpretation: Read and accurately interpret blueprints, utility schematics, and technical drawings to align dewatering activities with subsurface site conditions.
- Client Coordination: Act as the primary on-site contact for project managers, engineers, and general contractors to coordinate dewatering timelines and resolve site challenges professionally.
Required Qualifications
- Field Leadership: 3 or more years of experience as a Construction Foreman, Crew Leader, or Lead Hand, with a direct background in subsurface work (underground utilities, heavy civil infrastructure, wet utilities, deep trenching, or drilling/geotechnical operations).
- Plan Reading: Strong proficiency reading and interpreting civil blueprints, utility schematics, and technical drawings related to underground site conditions.
- Equipment Operation: Hands-on experience safely operating field equipment, including work trucks, trailers, telehandlers, and excavators.
- Technical Literacy: Experience using construction management software (such as ProCore, Bluebeam, or equivalents) to maintain daily logs, track flow rates, and submit digital progress reports.
- Mechanical & Electrical Aptitude: Experience with routine mechanical troubleshooting and basic field electrical checks.
- Safety & Compliance: Valid OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification (or equivalent verifiable site safety training).
- Driving Record: Valid driver’s license with a clean, insurable driving history to operate company field vehicles.
Preferred Qualifications (Highly Desired but Trainable)
- Education: Associate Degree or higher in Construction Management, Environmental Science, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
- Dewatering Familiarity: Direct experience managing groundwater, bypass pumping setups, or high-volume water control systems (50,000+ GPD).
- Environmental Compliance: Familiarity with stormwater management, SWPPP regulations, or handling environmentally contaminated groundwater.
