Duties
- Lead and supervise store staff, including hiring, training, coaching, and evaluating team members to foster a high-performance environment
- Oversee daily store operations, ensuring smooth functioning of sales, inventory control, merchandising, and customer service activities
- Manage inventory levels through effective stock management, purchasing, and merchandising strategies to maximize sales and minimize waste
- Implement pricing strategies and promotional campaigns to attract customers and boost sales performance
- Handle cash management duties such as cashiering, cash handling, payroll processing, and balancing registers accurately
- Maintain excellent customer service standards by addressing customer inquiries, resolving complaints promptly, and ensuring a welcoming shopping environment
- Utilize POS (Point of Sale) systems efficiently to process transactions and monitor sales data for informed decision-making
- Coordinate shift schedules, supervise staff during peak hours, and ensure compliance with safety regulations and store policies
- Conduct regular audits of inventory control procedures and perform bookkeeping tasks to ensure accurate record-keeping
- Develop marketing initiatives to increase store visibility within the community and drive traffic
Skills
- Strong leadership abilities with proven experience in retail management or assistant manager roles
- Excellent communication skills in multiple languages or bilingual capabilities preferred to serve diverse customer bases
- Skilled in negotiation, recruiting, interviewing, training & development to build effective teams
- Proficient in inventory management, purchasing, merchandising, pricing strategies, and retail math
- Experience with POS systems, cash handling procedures, payroll processing, bookkeeping, and store budgeting
- Demonstrated ability in supervising staff across shifts while managing time effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Exceptional organizational skills with attention to detail in stock control and administrative tasks
- Knowledge of grocery store operations including stocking, marketing, and customer service standards
- Strong interpersonal skills including phone etiquette and conflict resolution techniques
- Ability to adapt quickly using management skills for problem-solving and decision-making under pressure
