Position Location: Career and Technical Education/Workforce Development, Career and Technical Education/Workforce Development

Open Date: December 2024

The Career and Technical Education/Workforce Development Section of the Alabama State Department of Education is seeking to employ one (1) Education Specialist.

Duties will include, but will not be limited to the following:

Collaborate with the ALSDE staff and other stakeholders to help improve Career Coach and CTE programs in local school systems (LEAs).
Collaborate with the ALSDE staff and partners to provide high-quality, ongoing professional development, according to data and identified needs, to support Career Coach and CTE progra1ns and initiatives.
Collaborate with ALSDE staff to manage the Alabama Career Development Model framework and assist with its implementation.
Provide oversight and technical assistance for the Career Coach
Serve as a mentor for Career Coaches
Assist with the Alabama Career Planning System’s management and implementation in elementary, middle, and high schools.
Assist with the management and imple1nentation of the Be Pro Be Proud Alabama
Collaborate with ALSDE staff to update and produce career success guides for each of the career
Serve as the ALSDE liaison to regional workforce councils, economic development organizations, chamber of commerce, and other regional/community organizations.
Serve as ALSDE liaison to Alabama Community Colleges and other institutions of Higher
Represent and advocate for CTE internally to ALSDE committees and groups
Attend professional development conferences deemed necessary for the enhancement of CTE
Perform other duties as assigned
Overnight travel required

Education:

Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in an approved subject matter or education specialty area.

Experience:

Minimum of five (5) years of professional experience in teaching, education administration, or a related assignment.
Alabama Career Coach experience required.
