About the Role: Iron Star Moving and Storage is building a reputation based on integrity, hard work, and professionalism. We are currently looking for strong, reliable, and team-oriented individuals to join our crew on a part-time basis. This position offers approximately 10 to 20 hours per week, making it ideal for those looking for supplemental income with a flexible schedule.
Moving is physically and mentally demanding work. We are looking for candidates who possess real grit and take pride in a job well done. Whether you are an experienced mover or looking to learn the trade, we provide the training necessary to meet our high standards. You will be working directly alongside company leadership, meaning your hard work and positive attitude will be immediately recognized and rewarded.
Core Expectations:
- Absolute Punctuality: Moving is a team effort. Our trucks cannot roll, and our jobs cannot start, unless the entire team is present. Reliability and showing up on time is our absolute number one requirement.
- Situational Awareness & Safety: This role involves maneuvering heavy, awkward, and high-value items (including fridges, dressers, and gun safes) through tight spaces. We prioritize the safety of our team members and our clients' property. A sharp, safety-first mindset is essential.
- Coachability: We have specific, high standards for wrapping, handling, and loading. We expect all team members—regardless of prior experience—to be open to feedback, willing to learn our exact methods, and ready to grow with the company.
Physical & Skill Requirements:
- Physical Strength: Safely lift, carry, and maneuver heavy objects (typically between 50 and 75 lbs, occasionally more with assistance) repeatedly throughout a shift, including navigating multiple flights of stairs.
- Stamina: Endurance to work demanding shifts in varying weather conditions, including intense Texas heat and humidity.
- Soft Skills: Strong customer service and communication skills to interact respectfully and professionally with clients, while coordinating seamlessly with teammates.
- Packing & Protection: Meticulously wrapping furniture in protective blankets, shrink wrap, and padding to prevent any damage during transit or while moving through homes.
- Loading & Unloading: Strategically loading and safely carrying heavy items, boxes, and appliances between the property and the truck using equipment like dollies, hand trucks, and lifting straps.
