Mechanical Industries is seeking a talented and self-motivated CNC machinist on 1st shift capable of setup, programming, and operation of our array of CNC equipment and machinery, including both vertical mills and horizontal turning centers, including swiss machines. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of five years of experience.
Responsibilities
- Successfully execute both new and recurring jobs with speed and consistency.
- Fixture making and part Inspection
- Set up, verify programs, and operate CNC machines and numerically controlled tools to carry out intricate machining operations that meet strict tolerance specifications.
- Design and develop precise programs efficiently
- Interpret program formats and fixturing requirements, with the ability to arrange, mount, and secure workpieces both with and without fixtures
- Establish stops and calibrate fixturing to appropriate reference points.
- Manually cycle the machine through operations to verify fixture accuracy, work positioning, tooling setup, clearances, speeds, and feeds.
- Make necessary adjustments to the machine or console to ensure adherence to program specifications.
- Be able to identify and fix errors as they arise
- Provide recommendations on how we can improve our production and efficiency
- Assist in training for less experienced operators.
- Troubleshoot and resolve operational issues, making necessary fixes when needed.
- Be able to read and understand detailed part drawings and tech specs.
Requirements
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in the field
- Substantial and meaningful experience in machine shop practices and CNC programming.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, specifications, and routing documents.
- Capability to determine and calculate appropriate feed rates and cutting speeds.
