Responsibilities
- Assist dentists during a variety of dental procedures, including oral surgery, endodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry, ensuring smooth workflow and patient comfort
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing dental instruments, setting up necessary equipment such as dental x-ray machines and 3D scanners, and ensuring all tools are ready for use
- Take accurate dental x-rays and medical imaging while adhering to infection prevention management protocols and aseptic techniques
- Manage patient records using electronic health record (EHR) systems like Dentrix or Epic, ensuring precise medical documentation and compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Provide chairside assistance by handling dental instruments efficiently, managing patient care throughout procedures, and explaining treatment steps clearly
- Monitor vital signs of patients when necessary and assist in maintaining clinical confidentiality policies at all times
- Support the dental reception team by managing patient management software, scheduling appointments, and facilitating effective communication between patients and staff
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Dental Assistant or in a similar role within a dental clinic environment
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, equipment operation (including dental sterilization procedures), and infection control standards
- Familiarity with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic for medical records management
- Ability to perform dental x-ray procedures accurately while following safety protocols
- Knowledge of pediatric dentistry practices and experience working with children is preferred
- Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with patients of all ages and collaborate with team members
- Certification in dental assisting or relevant training in healthcare infection prevention and control is highly desirable
- Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced setting while maintaining clinical excellence
