Job Summary
Assists in preparing, cooking, and serving food in the school lunchroom or classroom. Reports to the Nutrition Services Director/Head Cook, following direction and taking initiative to perform the job to the best of their abilities.

- Operate specialized food service equipment.
- Assist in food production, service, and cleanup tasks.
- Handle food and prepare it according to set recipes and food plans.
- Clean and maintain food service equipment and facilities.
- Observe food safety procedures and protocols, following them responsibly.
- Interact with co-workers, administration, students, parents, and the community in a positive, supportive, and cooperative manner.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the Nutrition Services Director and Administration.
- Be punctual, arriving on time for scheduled shifts.
- Maintain a strong commitment to the job and the responsibilities it entails at all times.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Most have a current Oregon food handlers card.
- Must have adequate reading and mathematical abilities.
- Must be able to pass a background check and fingerprinting.
- Possesses knife skills and knowledge of proper use of kitchen equipment and tools.
- Ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality, especially regarding students' food sensitivities/allergies, and medical records.
- Demonstrated good attendance and punctuality.
- Demonstrated ability to accomplish required work assigned by supervisor and on one’s own.
- Must possess the ability to maintain a pleasant customer service manner while working with students and staff.
- Demonstrated ability to participate as a member of a team, exhibiting objectivity and openness to others views, opinions, and feedback.

Work Environment:
The noise level in the work environment is moderate to loud. Both kitchen equipment and school children create varying noise levels.
Mental Functions:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to compare, analyze, communicate verbally and in writing, copy, coordinate, compute, synthesize, evaluate, use interpersonal skills, follow instructions, compile, and negotiate.
