BlueTeam is a US-based provider of national disaster recovery, remediation, reconstruction, renovation, and roofing services for commercial properties. Our core business focuses on cleanup and mitigation efforts for recovery from fire damage, roof leaks, flooding, pipe bursts, and post-disaster remediation due to severe weather. We exclusively serve commercial sectors including hospitality, senior housing, healthcare, commercial offices, municipalities, multifamily living, and institutional markets.
SUMMARY: The HR Generalist is responsible for leading a wide range of HR functions to ensure organizational effectiveness, compliance, and employee satisfaction. This role serves as a key partner to leadership by managing daily HR operations and providing strategic support across multiple HR disciplines, including employee relations, payroll, compliance, benefits, policy development, onboarding, training, and HR analytics. The HR Generalist also plays a crucial role in fostering a positive workplace culture, developing HR staff, and serving as a liaison between employees and leadership.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Handle complex employee relations matters, including investigations, disciplinary processes, documentation, and Performance Improvement Plans (PIPs).
- Serve as an advisor to managers across the company on people management best practices.
- Assist HR Director with reviewing, refining, and communicating company-wide policies and procedures.
- Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, including E-Verify enrollment and tracking I-9 expiration and reverification dates.
- Oversee internal and external HR audits and risk management initiatives, including workers’ compensation claims; prepare supporting reports and documentation for auditors.
- Execute recurring HRIS audits — including PTO usage, timecard review, pay rate checks, and termination pay compliance by state — to confirm ongoing compliance.
- Manage the end-to-end onboarding process for new hires, including reference checks, benefits enrollment, payroll setup.
- Lead and coordinate new employee orientation.
- Partner with the Safety Team to ensure certifications, required training programs, and onboarding safety training are completed and documented.
- Oversee employee offboarding, including termination procedures, COBRA administration, and unemployment claims.
- Maintain electronic personnel files.
- Coordinate benefits programs, resolve employee benefit issues and inquiries, and manage monthly billing reconciliation; assist employees with benefit portal access.
- Process bi-weekly payroll and manage quarterly and annual cycles for incentives, bonuses, and merit increases for 100+ employees in multi-state environment. Partner with Finance on payroll related research and reporting.
- Participate in benefits renewal processes and lead annual open enrollment, including entering, updating, and auditing payroll deductions for health insurance, 401(k), and other benefits.
- Support salary benchmarking and pay equity reviews in partnership with HR Director and Finance.
- Ensure timely and accurate payroll tax filings, including researching and responding to multi-state tax authorities regarding discrepancies, delinquencies, penalties, payments, and reporting issues.
- Serve as the main point of contact for employee questions regarding payroll, direct deposits, taxes, and other payroll-related administrative issues.
- Lead the 30-60-90 day performance review processes, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
- Build and maintain HR dashboards to provide analytics on turnover, retention, engagement, and other key metrics.
- Serve as business owner for the HRIS, maintaining employee data — including job, rate, and manager changes; address updates; garnishments; and certifications — and identifying opportunities for process improvement.
- Develop initiatives and programs to enhance employee morale, job satisfaction, and retention.
- Partner with leadership to strengthen company culture and employee recognition programs.
- Promote employee engagement through cultural programs, company events, and internal communications.
- Maintain stock of office supplies and snacks, coordinate subscriptions with the purchasing coordinator, organize and distribute stock in allocated areas, collaborate with other admins for support, and manage incoming company mail.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Proven ability to manage complex employee relations issues, including investigations and disciplinary actions.
- Strong knowledge of federal and state employment laws and HR compliance practices.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities; ability to present data and insights clearly.
- Comfortable working independently, managing competing priorities, and maintaining confidentiality.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 5+ years of progressive HR experience
- Experience managing or mentoring staff.
